Piano Studio Policy

Lesson Structure

Lesson Lengths:

Our lessons are designed to meet students where they are, skills and their piano knowledge level. 30-minute lessons are reserved for beginning students only. As students grow in ability and repertoire, they are encouraged to transition to 45-minute or 60-minute lessons for deeper musical development. All online group piano classes are 1 hour in length.

What to Bring:

Students should arrive on time with all assigned music books, a notebook, and any other materials requested.

Practice Expectations:

Consistent practice is essential to progress. Students are expected to practice at least 5 days a week, with length and goals suited to their level. Parents of younger students are encouraged to help establish a practice routine at home. Lessons may be recorded by the instructor for students' access in between lessons.

Tuition & Payments

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. A monthly flat rate reserves your weekly time slot and includes lesson planning, and recital costs. Payments can be made via square, cash, check, Venmo, or credit card.

Private Lesson Monthly Tuition

30 minutes (Beginners only)        $140

45 minutes (Intermediate)            $210

60 minutes (Advanced)                 $280

Group Virtual Piano

Tuition

$360 per semester (Due at the start of each semester)

Late Payments: .

Payments not received by the 5th of the month will incur a $20 late fee unless other arrangements have been made.

Cancellations & Make-Up Lessons

Cancellations:

If you need to cancel a piano lesson, please give at least 24 hours' notice. With proper notice, a make-up lesson may be offered based on availability but is not guaranteed. Make up lessons will be held one Sunday per month and scheduled on a first come first serve basis. There are no make-up lessons for virtual group sessions. However, each session will be recorded and accessible to group students.

No-Shows or Same-Day Cancellations will be charged in full, with no make-up piano lesson, unless due to extenuating circumstances.

Illness:

If a student is ill, especially with anything contagious, please stay home. Virtual piano lessons may be an option in these cases.

Instructor Cancellations:

If I need to cancel a piano lesson for any reason, I will offer a rescheduled lesson at a time convenient to the student.

Performances

Studio Recitals

There are two recitals each year—one in the fall and one in the spring. These are wonderful opportunities for students to build confidence and share their hard work with family and friends.    Note: Virtual group piano class participants do not have recitals.

Performance Prep

Participation in recitals is required and included in the tuition. Students will prepare specific repertoire with care, and rehearsal time will be incorporated into regular piano lessons. The recital day counts as a lesson during the month of the recital. There are no piano lessons the week after recitals.

Instructional Calendar

Lessons are held year round including summer. In addition, My Piano Instructor follows the local school calendar during the academic year. There are no lessons the week of Thanksgiving, the week of Christmas, as well as the weeks of Fall and Spring Break.

Virtual group piano classes are held three semesters each year. Each semester includes 12 lessons.

ABRSM Exam Preparation

For students interested in pursuing ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exams, preparation will be tailored to each individual and may require longer lessons and extra commitment to scales, sight-reading, and aural skills. Please communicate your interest early so we can plan accordingly.

Final note

Thank you for being part of my piano studio. My goal is to create a supportive, joyful environment where students can grow musically and personally. I believe in open communication, and I'm always happy to discuss your child’s progress, goals, or any concerns you may have.

Let’s make music together!
