About Me

Welcome to my piano studio! 

My name is Derrick Denham. I am a passionate and dedicated piano teacher with over 30 years of experience, including 10 years of full-time teaching. Based in Memphis, TN, I have had the privilege of guiding students of all ages and skill levels on their musical journeys.

I earned my undergraduate degree in piano performance under the tutelage of the esteemed concert pianist Caroline Oltmanns at Youngstown State University. I further honed my craft by studying with Gloria Chien during my graduate studies at Lee University. This foundation has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to inspire my students to reach their fullest potential.

My students have achieved remarkable success, earning diplomas from the ABRSM piano examination series and participating in prestigious events such as the Tennessee Governor’s School for Music. I strongly encourage my students to engage in local music festivals and competitions, fostering a sense of community and healthy artistic growth.

As a performer, I serve as the pianist at the Church of the Good Shepherd and enjoy sharing my love for music through community recitals in the Memphis area. I believe that making music should be an enjoyable and enriching experience, and I strive to create a supportive environment for all my students.
